The mission of the fitness programs at the Connie & Jim John Recreation Center is to improve health and quality of living for the Kettering community through a lifetime of fitness by providing safe, effective, and enjoyable fitness opportunities and education in outstanding facilities.
Exercise Videos, Personal Workout Programs
The Group Exercise Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Recreation Center, is equipped with various exercise equipment including workout mats, BOSU balls, body bars, flexi-balls, hand weights, aerobic steps, and spinning bikes which can be used for groups, big and small, as well as for individuals.
A 55” Smart TV/DVD has also been installed so that patrons can workout using videos they checkout from equipment issue, download or purchase themselves. Equipment issue has videos for Zumba, Yoga, Spinning as well as the T-25 workout system. These options allow patrons to workout when their schedule allow. Call the front desk at (810) 762-9732 for availability of the Group Exercise Room.
The clinics will be held on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:15 p.m. in the Recreation Center. The clinic is free and taught by tennis coach and instructor Mark Taylor. All skill levels are welcome! You can drop in anytime; you do not need to attend each week. Come to the clinic that interests you.
April 5: forehand and backhand volley (at the net)
April 12: forehand and backhand ground stroke
April 19: flat and slice serve
April 26: doubles strategy
June Classes will be taught:
Wednesdays at noon and 6:45 p.m.
Students are invited to attend free of charge and the rate to faculty, staff, and member participants is $10 for a drop-in.
Payment is made directly to the instructor, Lois Schneider of the Yoga Loft, at the first class. The yoga style is Hatha Yoga. All classes are in the Group Exercise Room.

Ditch the workout, join the party! Starting in June classes will be taught Mondays at 7:30 p.m. & Wednesdays at 7:45 p.m. in the Group Exercise Room. The classes are free and taught by certified Zumba instructor, Jessica Grant.
