Who is FOLA?

FOLA is a group of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members who understand that the library is one of Kettering University's most important resources. They are united by their determination to enrich this resource and to help serve the University and the community.

FOLA sponsors Gaming Night, New Faculty Orientations, and Holiday Receptions. The group has purchased tablets, ereaders, and laptops for students and faculty to check out, historic photographs for the Archives, and donated funds toward the purchase of the iMac and Production Studio software.

February is Love Your Library month!

Mark your calendar for February 12 – 19, when Kettering will celebrate Love your Library Month. It's a wonderful chance for library lovers to recognize the value of libraries and to show their support. Friday, February 12, FOLA will kick off a week-long effort to raise funds that will be used to enhance the Kettering University Library for our students and faculty. As part of the kickoff, stop in from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to make a Valentine and enjoy some light refreshments.

Gifts to FOLA have been used to purchase:

  • Tablets
  • eReaders
  • Laptops

These devices boost hands-on learning experiences in the classroom and labs. Funds have also contributed toward the purchase of an iMac and Production Studio software.

Libraries have evolved to become more than simply book stacks. They are a place where information is accessed via a variety of means. They are a place for quiet study – but also a place for collaboration. Your support is critical to make sure that we can meet our students' informational needs. Make a gift now.

Support your library. It's long overdue!

Photo by Linda Pierce. The academic life of a university revolves around its library. The Kettering University Library and Archives serve a dynamic student body, an active research and teaching faculty, and a vibrant local community.

The library provides access to information in whatever forms necessary to whoever needs it. Fulfilling these goals in these rapidly changing times is a great challenge, which can only be met by the dedicated service of the library and archival staff and friends. The goal of FOLA is to bring about the continuous improvement of the library and archives, to promote academic research, and to advance technologically, all of which will benefit our patrons.

How do Friends Contribute?

There are many ways that Library and Archive Friends can contribute to the growth and development of the library. In addition to fundraising projects like the used book sale and Murder Mystery Dinner, FOLA sponsors gaming nights and holiday receptions for students. FOLA works on public outreach projects to strengthen community ties to the Kettering Library and Archives. In the past, they have sponsored an annual Arts & Authors Fair and regular speaker series.
